Goddard College Podcast - Stories From Goddard Episode 4
Jul 3rd, 2008 by host
After a one month hiatus, Stories From Goddard is back.
This month’s episode features a two part musical performance by Goddard student, Lily Mead Martin. The performance was recorded live at the Haybarn Theater at Goddard’s Plainfield, Vermont campus.
Also on this month’s episode is an interview with Goddard College faculty member, Francisco Ibanez Carrasco. Francisco talks about learning, activism, and the “magic” of Goddard.
Finally, creative writing is an important part of Goddard College. Student Yvonne Garcia shared two wonderful poems at the IBA2/BFA Spring residency’s student/faculty reading. I am honored to be able to share those poems with you here.
Some of the music for this month’s podcast was provided by the Podshow Podsafe Music Network. Check it out at music.podshow.com.

I enjoyed this podcast…the music by Lily Mead Martin is soothing/therapeutic; the interview with Francisco Ibanez Carrasco is enlightening, and the poetry by Yvonne Garcia exemplifies “poetry in motion.” Keep up the good work! This is the kind of media that keeps all of the residencies within the Goddard Community in tune!
I liked the fact that Francisco Ibanez Carrasco is proactive, and socially conscious…we must not forget to continue the dialogue on HIV/AIDS because more people are becoming infected everyday. We should not shy away from this issue, but be part of the solution…educate people…one of the victims could be your family member, friend, co-worker, neighbor, or YOU. So get involved. Let’s work towards a cure.
Yvonne Garcia’s feminist poetry gives a woman’s voice to the issue of gender. She draws back the curtains and throws open the windows into her innermost thoughts and speaks truth! Thanks Yvonne for being to “thine own self…true!” Henrik Ibsen’s “Dora,” you are not!
Bravo!
